Topic: Novel Ex Vivo and In Vivo Gene Therapy Strategies for Hematopoietic and Non-Hematopoietic Disorders

Dr. Rivella is an expert in the pathophysiology of hematopoietic, erythroid and iron disorders and in the generation of lentiviral vectors for the cure of these diseases. Additionally, he’s using in vivo delivery of RNAs to cure these and additional rare-diseases. Even though hemoglobinopathies such as beta-thalassemia and sickle cell anemia affect a very large number of children worldwide, curative approaches are limited and not well supported. Rarer diseases are even more neglected. The novel technologies discussed by Dr. Rivella may be able to address these needs and pave the way to more efficient and affordable therapies.
